The name Reiki is a Japanese word given to a very simple but highly profound natural healing technique used to balance the body, mind and spirit. Rei means "Universal" and ki (or chi in Chinese) means "Life Force Energy." The word Reiki originates from the word "Raku-Kei," with Raku meaning the vertical energy flow in the body and Kei meaning the horizontal. Although most people cannot see this energy, modern science tells us that it exists everywhere. It is in our bodies, in our food and water, the air we breathe, the sun that shines upon us and even exists in small amounts in inanimate objects. It is the foundation of all life. Reiki energy is transferred through the hands of a Reiki practitioner. After studying Reiki from a qualified Reiki Master, the practitioner is able to harness the Universal Life Force Energy through various techniques, and transfer it, resulting in a balancing of the body's chakras Chakras are energy centers in the body, and when unbalanced, can cause poor health, depression, anxiety and many other complications. All illness, in whatever form, is about being out of balance, either physically or mentally. Reiki releases negative energy, replacing it with a pure, positive balancing energy. It stimulates the body's own innate wisdom to heal at the source of the problem. |
