Cruise Tips to Avoid Passenger Seasickness

Most people wish to take an ocean cruise at least once during their lifetimes, but with the recent news coverage of cruises gone bad involving hundreds of passengers at a time there has been a decline in actual people looking forward to that, All aboard call. There are ways you can avoid this phenomena and the more common seasickness that some passengers develop all by themselves.

Check out which Ships have the best cleanliness scores

You can easily research online to find which cruise ships have been inspected by the CDC for health and safety and what their scores are. As of recently a few of the most cleanly ships are Norwegian Sun, and the Carnival Miracle with scores in the high 90s. According to the CDC a score less than 85 is unsatisfactory.

Pack a few medicines

In case you do get sick while aboard a cruise ship you should all ready have a supply of medicine with you. Never assume that the cruise ships medical facilities will have enough medicine. Take some Pepto-Bismol, a pain reliever, something for motion sickness and if your doctor is willing to prescribe it a short term dosage of oral antibiotics as a preventative measure. If there is a massive case of sickness aboard the ship you can bet that the medical facilities will be overrun.

Immaculate hygiene

This means being almost obsessive about cleanliness. You should not only wash your hands after using the restroom, but before getting ready to eat and drink and you should probably take a shower after going swimming.

Also when you go down for food remember to avoid uncooked foods like salads, eat only things that have been thoroughly heated. Dont go in for exotic foods that youve never tried before as your stomach can have a bad reaction to them. Peel your own fruit and veggies and dont drink the water or use the ice cubes. If you must have water ask for bottled, and you may want to use bottled water for brushing your teeth.
